Clodagh Berg
“The energy transition is compelling precisely because it resists simple solutions.”
Specialties: Energy analysis and modelling, renewable and low-carbon energy, energy transition
Clodagh has a long-standing interest in the energy transition and the challenges and complexities it entails. She enjoys working with detailed data, alongside looking at the bigger picture to better understand and explain societal behaviour and decision-making. There is no single simple solution to the energy transition which makes it complex, but also interesting and engaging.
Originally from Northern Canada, Clodagh grew up in the Yukon, a remote and sparsely populated region where outdoor activities were always accessible, and the outdoors was almost quite literally in her backyard. She went south to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Economics, before returning to the Yukon to work for just over a year. There, she gained her first working experience in energy management and the energy transition. She then continued her studies further south, completing a Master’s degree in Economics.
After finishing her studies, Clodagh moved abroad to the Netherlands for a new adventure. While she had some familial ties to Groningen, the language and culture were still largely unfamiliar to her. She spent just over a year working for a renewable energy start-up in Groningen before continuing her career at Summit.
Clodagh continues to deepen her understanding of the energy needs of the Netherlands and Europe more broadly. She enjoys living in the Netherlands and has particularly appreciated Groningen as a city, valuing its liveability, such as the ability to bike to work. She is excited to continue learning Dutch and feeling more at home here in the Netherlands.
